SIPS Building Systems
Structural Insulated Panels offer a modern method of off site construction with individual wall and roof elements being prepared in a factory to approved architectural and engineering standards. On average 50% of heat lost in homes is through the roof and walls. The government has set a target for 2020 that all new homes will have solid wall insulation. Why wait until then to benefit from lower heating costs and more comfortable living.
The Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs) consist of an inner rigid insulating core of expanded polystyrene (EPS) bonded to two outer skins of oriented strand board (OSB) using a water based adhesive under controlled conditions.
When engineered and assembled a structure built with SIPs requires no frame to support it. The panels form a strong, well insulated and structural envelope and are also used for the roof and internal load bearing walls.
The advantages of building using SIPs panels over more traditional methods include.
Superior structural strength
Design flexibility and space in roof
Greatly reduced site traffic and waste
Faster completion times
Reduced poor weather delays
Superior U-values
Greater options for traditional or contemporary external finish
Reduced heating requirements
Timber from sustainable sources
Properties built using SIPs panels are approved for lending purposes by all major UK lending institutions and are recognized by all major building warranty providers such as NHBC and Premier Guarantee.
